Lockdown weddings: COVID restrictions set a new trend in Pakistan

Sometimes things do not happen in the same way we plan them. These quarantined days changed a lot of things for us, mainly our social life and the way we used to gather and have fun with our loved ones.

The whole lockdown situation is new to us, and the people have adapted and adjusted to the new lifestyle choices. We actually learned to enjoy things with limited gatherings and choices. Where people are learning to lead their life in a new manner, Pakistani people and even celebrities are also making shifts in their lives. Lockdown is turning out to promote the simplified weddings at home and limited guests.

Where everything went on a halt, the sacred union of marriage came at the right time for some people. This situation has also conveyed a good message to the general public that marriages can take place in an utmost simple manner, with immediate family members. This is going to help a lot of people understand that spending exuberantly on lavish and elaborate weddings can be avoided and in the end, for a marriage to happen, all you need are the limited number of people you love who are going to be happy for you, such as your immediate family members and a few close friends.

Some celebrities who managed to celebrate their weddings into limited gatherings and simple arrangements:

Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Ali, the couple got married in Abu Dhabi during the early days of lockdown. They had the wedding with some of their close friends and family.

Later we heard about the old couple Samina Ahmed and Manzar Sehbai who tied the knot on 4 April, 2020. Their wedding went viral on the internet. The couple did not inform anyone about their wedding and kept it a very private affair initially.

Beautiful TV actress Nimra Khan tied the knot with Raja Iftekhar Azam on April 19, 2020. The couple also had a simple Nikkah family surrounded by their immediate family members and a few well wishers. The couple decided to get married and did not let the pandemic get in the way because they opted for a very simple wedding.

Hina Altaf and Agha Ali got married May 22, 2020. The couple chose the blessed day of Jummah tul Wida for their Nikkah. No one saw this coming and although Hina and Agha did make a few appearances on each other’s social media, the news of their marriage still came as a pleasant surprise because it was kept under wraps till the final announcement.

Faryal Mehmood and Daniyal Raheel are the newest couple of Pakistani drama industry. The couple tied the knot on May 28, 2020 in Lahore.

Recently, the most controversial wedding happened between Pakistani model Sadaf Kanwal and TV actor Shehroz Sabzwari. It was already rumored that Sadaf Kanwal and Shehroz Sabzwari were dating. Sadaf was seen with Shehroz on different occasions and then her recent comment on Shehroz’s mother picture confirmed that they were very much together.

Waliya Najeeb is one of the most sought-after photographers in the country. She is also a model and an actress who has made a name for herself on social media. Currently, Waliya has 518,000 followers on Instagram and around 178,000 on Facebook. The star tied the knot in February 2020 and celebrated an intimate rukhsati ceremony.

May we soon get out of this pandemic situation, but the quarantine taught us a lot about staying limited and unsocial for sure. Weddings should always be simple with a limited number of people so that no one envies or gets into competition with one another to have a grand wedding.
